Old Souls

Visiting the west coast of Ireland for 2 weeks in August of 2024 inspired this series. The first week I attended a workshop given by Rebecca Crowell at The Ballinglen Arts Center in Balleycastle, County Mayo, where I created this series of small (12”x12”) oil and cold wax paintings. I was influenced by the ancient beauty of the area: old stone walls, cemeteries, ocean cliffs, and the colors: grays, greens, purples. Later, visiting great-grandparent’s graves, towns and homes, helped me appreciate the connection of people to place, and past to present.
